At 2003, the Binotto family acquired Quinta dos Montes Farm, located in Urupema – Santa Catarina –, one of the highest and coldest spots in Brazil, offering a promising terroir to the cultivation of high quality grapes.
A research project was initiated about grape cultivation and future wine production. They’ve assembled expertise’s in their team and searched for references from the international market and world-class wine production.
Two years of studies and intense researches, sensitivity and vision of the future were the support to the upcoming of Santo Emílio Winery, with the vocation of developing fine wines.
The winery’s goal for the next five years is to plant 40 hectares of vineyards, for the production of red wines, white wines and sparkling wines.
Adding to the growth of wine production, the company started a project to build one of the most modern wineries of the country, at Quinta dos Montes Farm. One of the focuses of this project is the development of wine-tourism in the Santa Catarina Saw.
