The Valduga family, who came from Roveretto in the Italian Tirol, arrived in Brazil in 1875. They settled in Linha Leopoldina, where Vale dos Vinhedos is today, and have devoted themselves to vitiviniculture.
In an area of 12 hectares, the grandson Cândido Valduga enhanced the vineyards introducing noble grapes which are used for the making of a limited quantity of wines, since the aim is quality and not quantity.
The winemaking is artesanal and it still has the same high quality of the first bottles produced because it is put together with modern vinification techniques to make chararter wines that are synonymous with Dom Cândido.
In 2001 the Dom Cândido Winery acquired, in countryside of the town of Veranópolis 50 hectares of land where since then, imported seedlings of noble varieties have been planted, using the modern technology of production ensuring excellent quality grapes. Of these 50 hectares acquired, 32 were implanted, having currently, a total of 44 hectares implanted.
Dom Cândido Winery, produces about 280.000 liters of wine. All the wine is made with its own grape production. This is how they have won prizes, proving how excellent their wines are, by entering innumerable national and international competitions.
