The history of Miolo´s family in Brazil began in 1897 with the arrival of Giuseppe Miolo, an italian immigrant from Veneto who came to Vale dos Vinhedos ("Valley of the Vineyards") in Bento Gonçalves, in the south of Brazil.

The secular tradition of the family in the production of high-quality grapes was the driving force for the 3rd and 4th generations to launch the Miolo Winery in 1989.

Today, the company is in five different regions of the country, Vale dos Vinhedos, Serra Gaúcha, Vale do São Francisco, Campanha and Campos de Cima da Serra, that express the Brazilian terroir in each one of its wines. With a total production capacity of 6,5 million liters, the company plans on expanding its total production in five projects in order to reach 12 million liters a year by 2012.

Miolo also has 2 international partnerships, one with Osborne from Spain and one with Via from Chile.

The company invests heavily in technology, both in equipment and processes. It is always connected to the latest and best international trends in the sector and has also contracted international consulting companies to help along these lines. This is the case with French winemaker Michel Rolland, hired since 2003 to help the company with all of its winemaking process.
