Founded on January 22, 1931, Cooperativa Vinicola Garibaldi was born in the midst of a period of extreme economic crisis in the world. At the time, 73 producers had in mind a dream and knew that to accomplish it strength and unity would be necessary. Efforts generated fast results and in 1934 260 families cooperated with a production of 2.500.000 liters of wine.
The following years brought mishaps, uncertainties, wins, progress and development. The winery was expanded and created some small wineries in the region around the town. In 1947, having survived the second World War, the members of the cooperative received 141% more money for the production of grapes than did the non members. This outcome would be repeated many times over the following years. Over the years the Cooperative won the confidence of the local farmers so that grape production grew impressively and the winery's products were diversified and increased in quality. The winery produces a line of juices, table wines and fine red wine, topped by the famous sparkling Garibaldi.
Today, Cooperativa Vinicola Garibaldi keeps promoting itself as the largest organization in the economy of the town, with about five thousand people, among associates, employees and their families, depending on it. The company has an area of 32 thousand square meters, and its capacity for storage is 20.000.000 liters of wine. Its industrial park has mostly Italian machines and a system of advanced technology for obtaining the grapes in top conditions from its 300 members.
